The Duergar language is restricted and very few characters in the game are likely to learn it. It is rarely seen and requires approval from a referee to learn the language. As such your character will not even likely recognize the language and will likely even mistake it for Dwarven or Dwarvish unless your character is already skilled in both of the Dwarf languages

All Duergar within the game are known to use the same written and spoken language. It is something of a mystery that the Duergar have somehow managed to retain a consistent written language in spite of often living in segregated tribes. Most dwarves simply consider the language an offshoot of either Dwarven or Dwarvish even while the Duergar insist theirs is the mother language for the other two.

For mechanics purposes Duergar is considered a dwarf-based language.
